The inconvenience of flares

So my IBD has been almost entirely in remission for many months. This was great and as I prepared to go to download festival this year the fact I am taking my own toilet seemed like a luxury convenience…

…until yesterday. Oh yes my friends, during our street party to mark the Queen’s Diamond jubilee I had to hobble home quickly to spend a rather long time in the bathroom. And for the rest of the day I had to stay close to the bathroom, culminating in having to force down some dinner and pray that I didn’t have to rush down the stairs again after going to bed.

So far today I have been lucky. Perhaps it was just the stress of doing the grocery shopping yesterday and worrying about how I will fit all the camping gear, booze and so on into the car tomorrow. Nevertheless the camping toilet is no longer a luxury!
